NEUTRAL EARTHING RESISTORS:

FEATURES

  • Rugged shock-resisting construction
  • Stainless Steel resistive element
  • Double insulation
  • Up to 5000 Amperes/ 10 secs rating
  • Voltage up to 34.5 kV
  • High thermal capacity absorbs high current

APPLICATION
Neutral Earthing Resistors are usually inserted between the neutral of a generator or transformer and ground to limit the maximum fault current to a value which will not damage generating, transmission, distribution and other associated equipment, yet high enough to operate protective relays to clear the fault.

DESIGN CRITERIA

  • Line to Neutral Voltage
    - (system voltage divided by 1.732)
  • Initial Current in Amperes
  • Allowable "Time On"
-defined as the length of time that the line-to-neutral voltage can   be applied without exceeding the allowable temperature rise.

Our Neutral Earthing Resistors are designed to dissipate a large amount of energy without exceeding temperature limitations recomencled by IEEE Standard 32. The allowable temperature rise for the 10, 30 and 60 seconds ratings is 760 degree C. For extended time ratings ( >1 0 minutes) the allowable temperature rise is 610 degree C. For continuous ratings the allowable temperature rise is 385 degree C.
